This past year my work has dealt with multiple subject matter due to my need to experiment and, also to explore subjects within the variety of classes, which I took.  Overall, my work has a common viewpoint, which is my hope to express magical qualities about my physical world and surroundings.  I do often begin my work through a perceptual view into something or somewhere that inspires me positively.  During this year of isolation, it was most natural for me, to observe what was close by, whether it be, the furnishings within my own home, or the landscapes that I often walked and jogged within.  At the beginning, of this scary covid period, I made my surroundings feel an atmosphere of trepidation, to reflect what I was going through during the pandemic.  As my fears lessened, and I could feel more positive, I tried to emphasize the very magical qualities of our existence.  It is often said that one can look at their glass either half empty or half full.  I enjoy this didactic nature of reality and try to impose those values within my scenes.  I choose ambiguity over definition, because I feel that life can take turns at any moment, and our reactions can vary, and interpretations should be welcomed.

I especially admire the work of contemporary artist Peter Doig and the magical realism that he transmits through his color, brushwork, and both defined and undefined space.  I hope for my work to grow as I anticipate blending several genres into a single piece.
